I lived by new vridavan my whole life and my dad worked in the machine shop in the 80s i would go there as a kid and play with the devotees kids! It was amazing! Wed run and play in the forrest hills all day! I still have my books they gave me and go there often still.

The egotistical hierarchy and their abuse in 74 was to much to see.

My Dad worked at the machine shop in the 80s and i go there with him and play with the kids and take persadam and sing in the kirtans it was fun! I still have my original books they gave me and still drive up there a few times a year. It really hurt my heart that swami Bhaktipada fell down. He was very nice when i was there

American spirit if anything to praise here, but the scandals and corruption were unbelievable. No wonder only 5% of the iskcon communities survived.

Love this place. After summer I will visit the world's biggest iskon temple. ❤

This is all and well but not exactly correct. Let us not forget the murder of Stephen Bryant and Kirthanananda Swami Bhaktipada who created New Vrindaban from many illicit activities. It would be one thing if this place was created for a real Krishna movement but it was built on lies, fraud, and deceit.

I was in New Vrindaban (1968/69) when there was just the farmhouse, barn and couple small bldgs - my basic job was to cut down huge dead trees, hook the logs to one of the huge horses and drag to the "temple"...that's how we heated the temple. It was rough, had to take showers under a small waterfall down the hill, which had copperhead snakes once n a while !
